On line registration is open for the Quivira Coalition 8th Annual Conference. The 2009 conference brings together a community of ranchers, conservationists, researchers and natural resource managers to celebrate the centennial of the arrival of the great American conservationist Aldo Leopold in the Southwest as a ranger with the U.S. Forest Service. A variety of speakers will cover topics including land health, conservation, sustainable agriculture, restoration, beauty and the land ethic. A Water Symposium and The Water Symposium will focus on induced Meandering as a proven and effective method for restoring health to degraded and incised stream channels in a variety of landforms. This symposium honors the accomplishments of Aldo Leopold’s son, Luna Leopold. Invited speakers including Bill Zeedyk will explore watershed conditions, drainage patterns and riparian restoration throughout the Southwest. The | |||||||||||||||
