J Bar B Cattle Co. produces registered Black Hereford cattle for sale for seed stock. Our desire is to provide both bulls and heirfers, as well as some registered AHA cows bred to homozygous black  bulls.  These AHA cows were used in the development process of the J Bar B Black Hereford herd.  Semen is also available on three J Bar B bulls approved by the Black Hereford Assn. as herd sires.

We are now seeing homozygous off-spring in our calf crop, which enables us to cross back with AHA red bulls and/or females to increase the Hereford genetics to 100%.

The Black Hereford was developed to create a cross-over bull which would give hybrid vigor (heterosis) to commercial cattlemen.  The intent of this breed is to eliminate the red baldie, which is about 3/8 of a cross between an AHA red bull on black cattle. 

The benefit is realized when there are no red baldies in your calf crop.  Normally, red baldies bring $10.00 per 100 weight less than their black counterpart.
